The Manx Labour Party’s Sarah Maltby is right to call to cut failing Government services, according to the Manx TaxPayers’ Alliance. The Manx TaxPayers’ Alliance have some ideas to help her.
Manx Radio reported recently:
Manx Labour Party’s Sarah Maltby says politicians need to have the confidence to admit when services aren’t working and stop them.
Government should have confidence to stop services that aren’t working
“Maltby is right. The Government could start by cutting its extreme levels of corporate welfare, introducing big reforms to a so-called ‘planning’ system that requires individual permission for even trivial building enhancements, and wasting big chunks of taxpayer money on marketing,” said Michael Josem of the Manx TaxPayers’ Alliance.
The Isle of Man Government could cut the following Government services and rules:
- Stop the plan to increase Manx home heating costs by banning gas and oil heating in new homes.
- Cut the Isle of Man’s unusually high taxes on aircraft passengers flying within these Isles.
- Cut the high and unfair taxes on Manx TVs to fund British broadcasting.
- Deregulate and decriminalise tree planting.
- Cut back occupational licensing, by introducing mutual recognition with leading jurisdictions.
- Shut down much of the Isle of Man Government’s social media operations.
- Stop funding foreign researchers to tell Manx families how to live their lives.
- Stop spending on hairbrained schemes which increase inflation.
- Hire teachers instead of excessive Government bureaucrats in the Department of Education.
- Restore parking charges for Government elites which were cut in response to COVID.
- Maintain the Public Health Director as a part-time job.
“These are great ideas to improve the Isle of Man, and we are proud to support Maltby in her efforts to cut this wastage of taxpayer money,” said Josem.
